Lazy leo?

yodaky Oct 01, 2003 10:15 PM

My leo always hides in the humid hide, rarely do I catch it out of the humid hide. Almost as soon as I catch he/she it retreats to the humid hide. It has only been a week tomorrow, but I was just curious if I got the skittish/shy one. I purposely picked out the most active one trying to climb the glass Anyway, anyone have any idea if the leo will always be this way or is it too early to tell? Thanx.

I don't know about yours, but my Bronx, a male blizzard was the most skiddish gecko i'd seen. It took a good two weeks before i caught him out of the hide and he didn't go running back into it. He's even coming out now while i'm around and the lights are on. My female blizzard, Nala, is still very skiddish, she'll even scream at me if i get to close to her if i'm cleaning her tank or putting food in. She's also one who has trouble shedding despite a humid hide and putting moist paper towels on the entire warm side. Every time i tried to help her out she would scream and bite. I'm hoping she'll come around as Bronx has They all have their own very individualized personalities but hopefully yours will come out more

I've tamed mine down by taking them out of the cage, humid hide & all, waiting for them to come out of the hide themselves on my lap or wherever, then letting them roam freely on me & in the surrounding area. It's been working well so far. Good luck!

We're new to it too. We've had Slinky for going on 2 months. It was a good few weeks before she'd even venture within range of our hands. It's taken her longer to be ready to adventure out (we put her in the bathtub when she gets restless.) And we're still waiting for real trust... But slowly, and surely, she's getting braver. Be patient. Your little one will come around.
