World's 1st T-Pos Caramel?

perfectpredators Sep 30, 2011 11:15 PM

Ive been moving offices in stages this entire month and in the supply room I found a box labeled "PERSONAL." Well personal was a slew of Reptile Photos and books and things. As i flipped through the pages of pictures I found the worlds first T-Positive Rainbow Boa which I sold to Brian Sharp in 1994 for a boat load a cash and a Male Sharp Strain visual. I found what is now referred to as a "Caramel" Ball Python which I imported many of in the 90s and sold them as a "light" Ball Python Phase in my prices lists circa 1994-1996. Then I ran accross photos of my adventures as a child in the Miami Serpentarium and pictures taken at different locatlities around the world I visited and Reptile Zoos. I kept this picture cause I saw it as a "light phase BCC" it was taken in Central Venezuela at a popular Seaquarium/Retarium. This picture was taken 1993/1994. If this is not a T-Positive Caramel Boa Constrictor I dont know what is...

WOW RIGHT! what ignorance!!! i was 19 and this is way before the T-Positive revolution in 1993 and for all those that were in the Boa Hobby in those days you should remember that if it wasnt white it was nothing special...IDIOT I AM!! So given that this could be the first dated picture of a T-Pos? not sure I am asking only....

I also found these =)

This is another angle picture of the day in 1982 where my passion for Boas was born it was taken in October 1982 at the Miami Serpentarium just a few yards from me was Mr. Haast himself, memories I'll cherish forever. I was very lucky to have me him. He was the "Elvis" of snake keepers. and speaking of which I also found my autographed copy of this:

Thank you for looking!

I got a little caught up on how a bp and a rainbow got confused lol but aside from that the Caramel Boa looks awesome! Looks to have a nicely connected pattern and stunning color! Doesnt look like they are made like that anymore its a shame!

Sounds like some great memories.

I ran into Julian Sylvester myself at the Anahiem show last month...last time I seen him was at the San Diego show when it was at C Street convention center back when I was just starting high school I know my mom has that pic somewhere of him and I with my Anery boa I picked up from Big Mike!

i was gonna put the picture of those but everyone knows that BP caramels came in by the bucket load in shipments from ghana in the early 90s and the certain big breeders with high BP IQ capitalized on it big time. i would throw 1 in for free at times if you bought 50 BP lots. I got litterally 5-10 per shipment. along with whats now called pastels and who knows what else.

The rainbow is in the box from John Berry on thevery last page of the book the yellow first book. taking a picture of a picture is a pain and i didnt want to bore everyone with non BCI pictures. that animal was a BCC by the way, that may have something to do with the connected saddle stuff....

I was talking about the look between a rainbow boa and a Bp but I suppose head shape is similar but proportions are way off.

That is crazy though! Imagine if you had bred those animals in those days! Sucks they have their issues though.

I would have thought BCC as well and man is that animal gorgeous. Wonder what it looked like as it got older.

Brandon Not sure what you meant by we don't see them like that anymore. Has anybody produced a t pos BCC ? This would be the first. Correct ?

BNixon Oct 01, 2011 09:37 AM

With animals that have that color. I'm sure that animal was a first but seeing how we don't have that look around these days doesn't seem as though anything happened with it much like the albino Suris

Let my jaw dropped last night as I was reminiscing and flipping pages and I saw that caramel bcc. Seen it hundreds of times but 12 years ago easy when caramels were unheard of/undiscovered. It's a gorgeous boa, always considered it one thus of hundreds or maybe thousands of bci and bcc I pictured and imported over the years it made the album cut

That's way too cool Manny
Even with the 35mm picture you can straight up tell that is no doubt a t-pos.

What ever happened to that beauty???
