I was wondering if anyone has crossed these two lines of hypo and if they were compatible? Thanks. Paul

I was wondering if anyone has crossed these two lines of hypo and if they were compatible? Thanks. Paul
Yes, Bryan Hummel cross the two blood lines a long time ago but the problems with the DB hypo line is making it difficult for us to grow up a female to a min. breed size. The last visual DB hypo that I know of is from Bryan and is now in my care, she is doing well but I am having troubles with the same types of issues and getting her back to a good breeding size is becoming very difficult. I have been looking for any visuals or 100% het, if you know of any please email or call me.
My future plans is to wait until the visual female is able to breed the out cross her genes with my strongest normal male I have in hopes to make strong 100% het babies. Any of these offspring that is not showing regurgitation problems will be crossed in hope to get DB hypos without the regurgitation problems.
The double het male is doing great, no problems at all. I hope that I can get the female to a good size as well but I am not sure how long that will take.
I can tell you the lines are different genes so it should be interesting to see what double visuals will look like.

This has always been something I've been curious about. It seems these DB hypos are pretty much non existent! Any chance you'd be willing to post up a pic of your DB hypo female?? I'd love to see her, as I'm sure many others would too!!

There is a picture of the DB hypo on my website under rainbows/collection/hypos but it was when she first arrived and was in terrible condition. I am in the process of updating the website photos and hope to have a better picture of her up soon.
Her name is Hope, in hopes that between Bryan and I we can reestablish this bloodline.

Thank you for your interested I think this is going to be very cool if we can get this bloodline up and running again. I think we should rename it after the ppl actually putting in the time to outcross them to establish quality animals, ha ha

So what you are saying is the breeding has been done and was found not to be compatible because he ended up with double hets correct? I have a Lockwood line male hypo and a pair of adult Darrin Bell Hets and was going to try and breed the hypo into the adult het female but based on what your saying I am going to keep them separate. As far as Darrin Bell Hypos they are out there. Not as common as the Lockwood line but they are around. I had the opportunity to buy several about 6 months ago from Darrin himself. Thanks Paul
that is correct. If I where you I would put the DB hets together to produce DB hypos, then after selling one to me put the DB visual to the EBV visual
Sounds like a plan. Just to let everyone know that the Darrin Bell line Hypos are still being produce regularly, Actually the real originator is still producing these animals. Darrin sorta took some of the first animals and slapped his name on them when in fact the person who produced the first hypo from the DB line is Norm Damn from OH, A matter of fact he had a litter at the last Cleveland reptile show. I think he had some hets and 3 or 4 hypos for sale. I guess because no one knows the truth on the project they do not know where to look for them lol. Take care guys.
Background info on the subject from Mike's website.

Regarding the history and background on hypos in Mike's link, there's a small section that says:
"There may be several other hypomelanistic lines being worked with. Darren Bell produced hypomelanistic animals about the same time I produced my first clutch. There is an animal in the collection of Tim Frazure who looks strikingly similar to my hypos. Her background is unknown."
Just to set the record straight, Tim Frazier's animal was a male that died after producing that one litter. I bought a pair of babies from Tim, raised them up and have had three successive litters from them, with a few babies that looked more pastel or anery than hypomelanistic. I'm still working on proving out whatever trait it is. I posted pics of the first one born over 2 years ago. Certainly NOT hypo due to the strong black markings but there is definitely NO hint of red present.

Very cool to see someone working with Tim's line. I offered to buy that snake or at least try a breeder loan with him years ago, but it just wasn't in the cards. The baby you have there is very nice. The bold markings remind me of Tim's adult.
The info on my site seems to be outdated at this point. If anyone has made strides with any of the hypo lines out there and would like me to reference them, please let me know. Thanks!
