which water bowl for vision hatchling...

joshhutto Oct 03, 2011 11:35 PM

I will be setting up my new rack for the vision hatchling tubs however all my water bowls that I currently have only leave about half an inch of clearance which would obviously be too tight for anything but a tiny hatchling from drinking. For those that use these tubs which bowl do you use. Thanks in advance.

I use the small white casserole dishes I got at a dollar store or condiment cups. The casseroles work alot better they hold more water and they are heavy so the snakes cant flip them

...really...if the ones you have are too big...the answer would be .......smaller....?

I used 1 1/2 inch crocks...2 inch crocks...and plastic...and electric tape containers...and peanut butter lids....and anything that worked.....hundreds of them....if you have 100 tubs...you need 130 at least ...bowls....easier to throw clean one in tank than to actually clean as you go.....

......go to ThatPetPlace.com...start there and see some prices...

I use 3" white PVC pipe caps from Home Depot, they're 1.09 each or so, never had one tip over, plus if you drop them, they won't break. I've been using the same ones for 6 years and they last no problem. I have a Vision hatchling rack too, 60 box capacity and there's alot of clearance above the rim of the cap and it holds plenty of volume for the water too.

Check out some clear plastic food containers at wally world, etc.

I started using them for hatchlings just so i knew(at a glance) whether or not they have soiled their water yet.

Since then,i am now using a larger size for my adults as well..They are tall enough that they cannot be tipped over, yet short enough that even an adult can get inside of it..(,and again,i can also see when females are soaking or not.Without disturbing them.)

Josh,
I know just what you need. I have 6 of the vision hatchling racks and I use 12 oz. squat clear plastic deli cups by FabriKal. They are just the righ size to allow animals to drink but they are tall enough that they cannot be tipped over.
They come in cases of 500 and I buy them 1000's at a time to get a better price. Last time I think I think they cost me around $.05 apiece shippped.
These have been one of the biggest time savers ever for me!
You will love the vision hatchlihg racks with these deli cup water dishes.
