Spotnose Pin x Mojave 10 egg clutch

insangelic Oct 11, 2011 01:08 AM

The jigsaws. Spotnose Jigsaw in the middle.

Spotnose Jigsaw only.

Spotnose Mojave.

The pins. I think the bottom left one is a spotnose pin. Opinions wanted!

Another shot of the pins.

The spotnoses. Such a difference in shade.

The lonely mojave.

Awesome Clutch! Pretty sure that Spotsaw? is a first. Is it a boy or girl? The spotnose gene tweaks most pattern morphs out and mildly changes tone and contrast, but throw a pastel gene or other color mutation in there too ....then it's a party lol. Plus we really haven't seen any of those pattern combos in Powerballs. This season should change that.....

Thanks!

I'm pretty certain about the spotnose jigsaw. The pictures doesn't convey the coloring well at all. It was really apparent in the egg that it's different from the other two. I'm also using the strong break in the neck marking as the indicator for the spotnose gene. Btw, I used your spot pin on your site to help identify the spot pin in my clutch!

Oh I forgot to add... I think it's a first. Haven't sexed it yet but I hope for a boy! If you take a look at the spotnose mojave, it didn't change the markings that much. I also looked at Don Patterson's spotnose mojaves to verify that it's a subtle combo. When it comes to the spotnose pinstripe, at a glance I would have thought it was a normal pin. I even had doubts for the longest time that the spotnose pin sire was even a spotnose since the influence was so subtle. The markings on the spotsaw wasn't as exciting as I had hoped but it does make sense looking at the way the spotnose gene influences the mojave and the pinstripe.
