Does the snake have a temp gradient and a humid hide? They will use the water bowl prior to shedding for sure, but all my snakes have a humid hide and seem to use that instead. With winter coming the humidity is starting to drop and shedding problems can occur if they don't have a humid hide or a water dish large enough to soak in. Of course, they should always have these things IMO.
