Possibly T. g. evanescens, the so-called Merauke faded BTS, but I'm not positive about the subspecies. It IS definitely T. gigas, though.

are they always this light when they are young or is this a good thing in the long run for babies

And no, they are not always that color. For example, there's a post below with a picture of a regular color T. gigas, T. gigas gigas subspecies, which is quite different from a T. gigas evanescens subspecies, as pictured in a different post below. Yours seems to be more of an evanescens color and pattern. This subspecies is often called Merauke BTS.
