THE SUPER ZOMBIE,
Hey guys here is how this amazing morph came to be.
In 2006 I bred a red hognose female to a normal male and produced a clutch of were exactly half the babies were red and half were normal. Since the red gene is a line gene I thought it was interested and decided to keep the red babies. Having just bred my first pastel ball pythons at that time I thought it could be something dominant or co-dominant.
In 2010 I produced the first super zombie by breeding those F1 offspring together, and have since produced another 2 from a second female kept back in 2006. A friend of mine came up with the name zombie hognose because the offspring are all red with jet black eyes. As the super form ages the colors are washing out a bit and it almost looks like a very high red toffee. I have produced 14 zombies (co dominant red hogs) to date and 3 super zombies. So far the genetics are pointing out that this morph is indeed a new co dominant gene.
I have attached a couple of pictures of the original baby. When it was born and a year later. I am very exited to see what happens when we incorporate some of the other morphs into this gene.

That's a very impressive animal and not meaning to burst you bubble here but you have not done enough out crossing and test breeding to call this a new morph by any means let alone a new co dom.
I have had almost the exact same results from my tiger line, the super blonde line and the hot tamales. I have been breeding these for a few years and always get visual results when I keep the line together but I have not out crossed to unrelated blood.
That's the ultimate test.
On another note... Last year Justin produced a crazy dark red hog with one solid black eye.
This year he did the same breeding and produced one with two solid black eyes and at least 2 with one.
I've seen them and the producing adults with my own two eyes. The dad is dark dark red not light like yours, and the mom is pretty normal looking maybe a hint of red or dark.
Apparently mr. Dedrik has some black eyed red stuff going too.
Best of luck hope it pants out for us all to work with.
Thanks for sharing..

Sorry I should have outlined how I got the 14 zombies. One of the clutches is from a F2 zombie male to a normal unrelated female. She produced 9 eggs which resulted in 4 zombies (will have to see if these offspring can produce supers
. I agree that much more out-crossing needed to further prove out the genetics as co-dom, however all the evidence is pointing in that direction so far. Regardless all the 1.2 original hold backs have produced the super form.
This spring I will be able to breed some of the normal clutch mates of zombies as well as breed the first super zombies to normals and other zombies. This spring should be very exciting and I am hopeful that the genetics continues to prove out.
I do realize though that there is still much work to be done
Here is another pic of the super one year later
I think there awesome and hope to see more of your hogs in the future.
Thanks for posting.

cool animals it looks like a hypo with its lacking of all black pigment the odd thing is the eyes are black. Have you looked at there eyes with a flash light as they might be deep red instead of black. try it and see what the results are. I would be intereted in knowing. I also would like to see a cluch pic of both zombie and super zombie next to the regular colored offspring. keep us posted to your future results.Ted
Very interesting. Thanks for sharing.
