I will not breed a male that is smaller than 500g. Some have bread smaller with success. My male mojave was 500g and it took him 2 months to figure it out. I put him with a female mojave for 3 consecutive days out of the week. Friday was feeding day, Sunday was cleaning day and putting males with females, and Wednesday was putting males back home so they could settle for a day before feeding again the next friday. I did this from November through March. I did not witness locks until January. I just kept putting him in and taking him out, and after 2 months he figured it out. He made me a beautiful Lucy! Good luck. Oh yeah, same thing happened with my spider. It took him about a month and a half to figure it out. He was about 600g.

500 grams is fine! Did you cycle him correctly? It's kind of early!

I had a pewter breed at 400 grams with s full stomach. So empty he was in the 300's. I wasn't trying to breed him I was cleaning and moved him over int a 2000 gm female rack and slid it closed. They were together for a few hours at most. When I was done I moved him back and went on with life. A while later that fem stopped eating and laid eggs. I ended up with a pewter fem, 2 blk pastels and a normal. I was totally surprised.
