Parazap for Uros.....

Heather Oct 02, 2003 08:45 AM

Anyone give parazap to their uros? I've been giving it to my three since I lost Cinder. If you do give it, How much are you giving? I've been giving one cc to my adult male and female and Half to my little one. Should I give more or less? Is that the right amount? It's real fun every morning trying to pry their mouths open.... Ugh...... Is there an easier way to give the tea or should I just keep prying mouths? Those little guys have STRONG!!! jaws!! Anyway, I was just curoius about what you guys give...

I have NOT used it yet, but Arthur just got a fecal back from the vet showing coccidia (NO!!), so I was planning to start him on Parazap after the medication clears him out. I'm thinking I might try the dusting approach mentioned on their website rather than the tea, even though it's maybe less effective that way.

I talked to Douglas Dix this weekend at the show in Eugene OR, and he warned me against doing any prying at all on the jaws. Their muscles are apparently stronger than the bones, and they can clamp down hard enough to break their own jaws. He suggested wiggling the tip of the syringe against the lips in the front until they bite at it - just grab your opportunity while you can.
