Can you help us??

Hi. My sister found five lizard type creatures of various sizes dead in her pool; she also took five live ones into her home and put them in a tank. The problem is that she has no idea what they are, and how to care for them. Our area (Staten Island, NY) is not one where we have lizards dropping from trees. The creatures are dark colored, lizard looking, with suction feet. She said they do not seem to particulary like water. Any help I could get here would be very much appreciated. My e mail is ackersona@sibk.com. Thanks. Nettie

Slimy. They started to die, so she put them in the area around a pond. Thanks to all who helped. A
