I use Mazuri 5M30 for rats and 5M68 for mice. My small local Ace Hardward orders it for me. Years ago I used a combination of pig & sow food with sunflower seeds and it seemed to work fine. Don't know what exactly you are referring to as hog/pig block. Check protein and fat contents.

Mazuri rodent diet can be ordered by any purina dealer.
Pig block usually has a chemical to cause more lactation in sows. From my experience this seemed to cause more mammary gland tumors (abscesses) on rat moms. This usually happened after the 2nd or 3rd litter which resulted in me having to put them down sooner, during their productive months! Also I began to wonder what this and other chemicals in the pig food would do to my snakes. Especially my more expensive ones. Since then I switched to specifically formulated rat food and have had no problems.

Have tried everything from $35/bag lab diet to $7/bag pig feed. Do not recomend pig feed. They eat ALOT of it, it seemed like to me. Recently went to kent feed website and found a dealer near me. Currently using kent 23% rodent diet. Rats eat half of what they used to eat on the pig feed and about half the water as well. They produce much better now and actually look healthier in my opinion. Have been using it for around 5 months now. As a bonus its only $12.50 a bag.
