Babies after meal refusal?

Devils7Anarchist Oct 24, 2011 11:40 PM

I've been waiting for momma to have her babies, and now she is huge and finally refused a meal. From your all experiences, how long do you think she has til birth after a meal refusal? I wasn't keeping track of her sheds lengths to find that one specific shed so I figured I might get a better estimate this way. Thanks for the info!

I cannot really help you much. It is difficult to predict due dates just from feeding data. Most of mine that are gravid quit eating around the time they start looking gravid and the males lose interest in mating with them. This is usually five and a half to six months before they lay their litters. Some will eat a few small meals midway through gestation but some others go the entrire time without eating. A very small percentage of gravid females will eat through the first months of gestation. It is also fairly common for adults that are not gravid to go off feed for a month or two.

No good way to place a due date from when they eat, each one s different and even the same female can be different from year to year. Many will stop eating at the beginning of mating season, Most will stop eating sometime while gravid and some will continue to eat until the babies are born if allowed. This year I had one female eat mere days before giving birth, I had written her off as not gravid.
