Pink tongue???....

rainbowsrus Oct 25, 2011 12:46 PM

Don't know how I missed it before, guess I was too busy looking at the stripes and skin colors to notice but all four of the striped ones have pink tongues while the rest of the litter have normal black ones.

of course since I was trying to get a good tongue shot all I got were blurry ones

Did get a fairly good mug shot

This keeps getting more and more interesting.

Do your hypos have pink tongues??

I just checked and two hypos here have dark tongues. Their dark tongues are not quite as dark as the tongues of several normal BRBs I checked.

So what do you guys think this means?
I never really paid attention to tongue color, are all other BRB tongues brown/black?

I really don't know what this means, just an observation I thought was interesting.

I am beginning to think that while there is very obvious pattern morphing, it is also a color morph. They are sooooooooo pink it's unreal. A pink color I've never seen before.

lol - Cotton candy stripers

YES! Candy Stripers! :D
That could also work out well later if some one else is able to replicate the morph with different snakes but doesnt have the same coloration.

It's not a hypo pink though from what I can tell. Their black lines look strong in color. It would be interesting to breed them with a hypo somewhere down the line too.

That is quite strange indeed! Perhaps a marker for something else? Or just a quirk of the stripe 'gene'? Who knows! All I know is that I want one! or tewnty.....

IMO it's totally related to the four "striped" babies, Only those four have pink tongues and the tongue color is similar to their pink stripes. Of course all is speculation at this time but I'm very much leaning toward this being a codominat trait and also that it's a pattern AND color trait.

The pics I have shared are pretty close to actual colors but what they don't truly convey is the intensity of the colors. They are pink, very pink, pink like no other rainbows I've ever seen. How the color will evolve as they mature I don't know but right now, they are pink.

I am wondering if that goes back to Noah's genetics (grandfather), he was an odd orange color in that his color was brightest at his head and slowly faded towards his tail. I am looking for some more photos of him now to post.

For now, I have included a picture of Noah paired up with my female Copper, who is the normal red-brown.
