i have 4 ball pythons i have them set up in a animal plastics cb70 rack. now i must admit i do not take them out much but i do open there tubs often and check on them and give them everything they need as far as heat, food etc.. my question and concern is every once in a while like last year this happened if i open there cage some of them will run away like no tomorrow like if they seen the devil? it makes me feel a little concerned the way they react? last year i put my pastel and spider together and i really thought one was going to kill the other thats how much body slamming was going on in the rack i mean serious banging that when i posted everyone said it must be two males but that was a no no as she had babies this year. any ways just wanted to see if anyone has had this type of behavior going on with there snakes?

I have seen that happen when I softly (or even rush) into their room and yanked a tub open. Think of it as if you were relaxing enjoying the quiet in your living room next to your front door and suddenly it was yanked open.
This is especially true if your tubs don't have windows so the snakes can see you coming.

I have not ever noticed this type of behavior as a rule. Once in a while perhaps one will get a little squirmy, but yours really seem to be over the top. I do keep my snakes fed quite regularly, they get all they are interested in eating about 95 percent of the time. Once in a while I will be short of rats and they will go longer than usual, at these times they get more active and restless, Some will slam the front of their bins when I walk by, but thats about the extent of my experience with this more active behavior.

so the body slamming is not from two males.

perhaps the body slamming resulted in the egg deposition.
perhaps it is a good kind of "body slamming"
