YES! My baby hosue snake finally ate!

Nicodemus Oct 02, 2003 09:31 AM

I was going nuts looking for pinkies small enough for her. My local pet store has a mouse that has been pregnant for a long time, but she still hasn't popped (She is HUGE...i've never seen a mouse this big...NEVER...its like a small rat!)

I was getting desperate for food and tired of waiting.
I finally found a couple at another store and she scoffed one up right away!

I am so psyched!

I'm glad to hear that your little snake ate! I got a tiny pair of hatchling Black/Green phase and was a little aprehensive about their taking even small pinks. The seller assured me that they had already eaten small live pinks and that it would be no problem. When I went in to pick up the pinks, they didn't have newborns so I had to just pull a couple small ones out of the litter. Both snakes managed to kill and eat their pinks, though it did take a while for them to get them down. Those African House Snakes are pretty tough! Just wait till your's gets some size on it... My adult female is about 3.5' and she's eaten 4 adult mice in one sitting. I don't normally feed that heavily, but she'd just laid a big clutch and needed the extra feeding.
Good luck with your new house snake!
Lora
