I hate the little dripper

tak Feb 08, 2003 12:38 PM

I have always hated the little dripper, which always either runs or is stopped, or runs all over the cage. I have always used it, though, for my big male veiled. Now I moved him to a nicer cage, & I hat the dripper 10 x more. The problem I have is that I have never seen him licking drops from spray, I figure because he's so big. If I only spray his cage, will he be OK living only on sprayed water? Thanks, Tom

Yes it is possible But it is always good to have more then 1 water supply. i put the nosle right up to my chameleon and he used to open him mouth waiting for me to spray in, wierd, too sum training, well i dunno what it took. but id still used the dripper and spraying. if not everyday fire a warm mist right onto him head and he sould lap the drops of him lips...

My little dripper does not work well either. I now use a 1 gallon sprayer you can get at Home Depot for $10. I put warm water in and "shower" my Jacksons down. They love the shower and always come towards the water. I also spray down the plant leaves so they can lick off it also. Most of the time I just shower above their heads and they lick up the water at it drips down to their mouth. Some of my Jacksons I can put the spray wand up to their mouth and they just start lapping the water up. I also use a plastic cup with a small hole above their cage that cascades down to plant leaves to provide water for a few of my shy adults. Rick
