warning for those with babies

ecb Oct 02, 2003 11:04 AM

This is the bubbler water dish you can buy, it is VERY good at increasing the humididty of the tank for the animals. HOWEVER, my babies seem not to be able to tell that the bubbles are not a solid surface, and one of my babies jumped in and was submerged for a while, and unable to get out
If you are going to use this dish, please be sure there is a stone for the smaller animals to climb on if they get caught in the water

Thanks for the warning...it will be a good thing to know if these eggs I have are in fact fertile and I can incubate them right. Is the baby ok?

it was Lady Belle, the one who was already showing some mouth breathing (vet took a swab of her throat for Gram Stain) so if anything happens, IM not sure what brought it on (before or the dip) but other than being pissed off she seemed fine this AM when I got up

That is a good point. I have discovered too that they need something to assist them in getting out. I have even used flat stones or bark to make a ramp. I haven't had a problem with it yet but I use the same rule for my babies as I do the adults for the most part in making sure they can stand with all 4 on the bottom and keep their head above water.

Glad you caught it and got her out.
