My first Kingsnake a Sonoran Desert King

DesertKing Nov 06, 2011 03:57 PM

I went to the Pasadena California Reptile Show yesterday and bought my first Kingsnake a Desert Kingsnake. He is two years old and beautiful! A special thanks to Randy Wright Reptiles of Ranch Cucamonga for him and he was only $40.

I went online last night and searched for Randy he has nothing but stellar reviews for his animals and has been a reptile breeder for decades. I went to the same reptile show in Pasadena back in 1995 I am glad to see it is still doing very well. Thanks for reading my post. I also have a Ball Python that I have has since the mid 90's.

I think Splendida will make a small come back in the next couple of years.....there are some new morphs that have not been produced in any numbers yet......Ghosts and Snows......And there are a couple Tpositive Splendida floating around as well......

Poor planning and procrastination on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part...

I love splendies, I feel they are underrated, and feel that they should be more popular without morphs creating interest. To me, a normal looking like what the OP posted smokes any of the morphs.

Axanthics, Hypos and Amels are "normal" as they are found in the wild along with non-morphs........lol

And I agree.....I like a nice Black and Yellow Splendida any day of the week....I have bred many and still do to this day after 15 years of working with at least 4 locales of them.....

But the morph guy in me likes the new and exciting things (double homozygotes) that are yet to be as well.......

I can't agree more with what you said about Randy Wright. He is one of the most outstanding herpetoculturists I have had the pleasure of knowing.

He definatly has some killer snakes. I've bought several snakes from him. I talked to him a lot over the years at shows we were both doing and he is a hell of a nice and humble guy.

Hey thanks to everyone for your replies and making me feel welcome here! I fed him two mice today he is comfortably resting and digesting his meal. Now I know they are also called Splendida Kingsnakes thank you for that too.
