can anyone tell me what a leucistic is?

pinkypie Nov 09, 2011 06:06 PM

Ive been looking at the leucistic pines and they are awesome. But was is a leucistic, its not the same as an albino right?

I also like the whitesided bullsnakes as well.So Ive added them to the list of what I want but can have only one.

So its these four maybe more if I keep looking too much, I know I want it to be BIG(eventually LOL).

Northern pine(normal)
Leucistic pine(are they northern or southern or can be both?)

A White sided bullsnake I think they are called Trumbower.
and also want what I think is called a hypo albino bullsnake.

But I have a few months to decide...Im leaning toward the leucistic right now.

leucistic is of greek origin meaning clear or colorless & in can occur in any animal. one big difference between a leucistic & an albino is the color of the eyes. leucistic creatures retain normal coloration. as far as i know, most leucistic pines are s. pines. hope this helped......

It might be a dirty version but I have always thought of it as pure white with blue eyes. I have a 5 footer at home right now. Here is an older pic of him(he has red eye from the camera flash in this unfortunately):

The very existence of flamethrowers means that sometime, somewhere, someone said to themselves..."You know, I really want to set those people over there on fire...but I'm just not close enough to get the job done."

The more I see the leucs. the more I like them.I went to the one breeders site and see they have Blizzard Sonorans. Is a Blizzard similiar to a leucistic?

Ive pretty much narrowed it down to either a Red albino Bull or a leucistic something or maybe a Blizzard..I like the idea of having another Sonoran, I really do like the one I have, she has the best personality.
Although those Kingsville reds are gorgeous.I wonder if they hold the bright colors as adults?

As I understand it, the Kingsville reds get redder as they mature.

I have some long haired leucistic mice in my colony. They are pure white with black eyes. I also have the regular pink eyed albino mice.
