Do basilisks have trouble recognizing still water?

skp May 27, 2003 02:19 AM

I have a 2 month old hatchling green basilisk and it doesnt seem to use it's water dish. Although I cannot say that i sit in front of its cage all day to watch its every move but i do spend a enough time in front of its cage ^^
I have found water dragons to have trouble recognizing still water adn so i had to use pumps to churn the water. Is this the same with basilisks? If this is not the case then perhaps someone can tell me why the lizard isn't soaking in the water? I have had this lizard in this cage for 2 weeks and the water is not cold nor is it too warm....I just can't seem to figure it out. This is my first green basilisk. thanks for any info.

i don't know for sure what causes them to want to be in the water. but i do know that the reflection off of moving water tends to attract most lizards to drinking and also probably soaking in water. even just a simple bubbler would do the trick i'm sure.
