SLIGHTLY excited about my breeding pairs

NUCCIZ_BOAS Nov 14, 2011 09:05 PM

ok, so the word "slightly" might be a bit of an understatement. I'm EXTREMELY excited about these pairings which have been going strong for a few weeks now. I can't wait for spring time and hopefully make some killer babies! *fingers crossed*

First up is an individual pic of my OT Hypo het VPI female, aint she a beauty? (pic was taken through the glass, her colors are actually better!)

And here she is locked up with an unrelated OT Hypo het VPI male..... I'm trying to imagine a SUPER OT VPI sunglow.... I can't really imagine it, but I'm imagining maybe something that glows in the dark???? lol

Here is another OT Hypo het VPI female, she is unrelated to either of the OTs above.

And she is currently locked up with my VPI Motley from Jeremy Stone

Last but definately not least, a VPI female being bred by a Hypo Arabesque. Hypo Arabesques het VPI in my near future I hope!

I see a lot of praying, along with pacing back n forth in my near future!

Thanks for looking
Tony

Aquariums and astro turf?

Those are not aquariums, they are cages made out of melamine.

Years ago I used to work construction. My company ordered pallets of drywall in bulk. On the bottom of each pallet was a 3/4" thick sheet of 4 x 8 melamine, which served the sole purpose of protecting the drywall from damage caused by the pallet.

The melamine was then discarded.

I talked to my boss and was then allowed to start taking the sheets of melamine home, FOR FREE! So I figured hey, why not!? A 4 x 8 sheet had the perfect amount of melamine which allowed me to build a 4L x 2W x 2H cage. Then all I had to do was buy a sheet of plexiglass to use as the front of my cage. So the cages have sliding plexiglass doors and have worked very well considering I made them for the cost of a sheet of plexiglass and some flexwatt.

The astroturf is not the easiest form of substrate I admit. But if you're willing to deal with the hassle of cleaning it, I love it. Last year I had an incident where my breeder albino motley was breeding on aspen, and his hemipene got stuck on a piece of Aspen and became infected. Eventually he died.

Losing a snake that I paid 5k for a few years ago really stung, so I have converted almost everything to astroturd to avoid the possible complications.

It's kind of a pain in the butt to clean, having to get the garden hose and a scrub brush, but I have plenty of extras cut to size and don't have to clean them right away, I can wait until a decent number builds up and I make an event of cleaning carpets.

Also, I don't have any problems with bugs, mold, and in my opinion, it absorbs much better than newspaper. So like I said, it's a pain in the butt, but I like it. not to mention, it looks nice in my opinion.

Maybe someday I'll use aspen again for breeding, just have to let that loss cool off first I suppose.

Thanks for the kind words!

Tony

Ohh... Some looked like aquariums.

You should try newspaper, works great and is cost effective.

Good luck on your breedings, looks like some cool VPI T stuff will be made.
