Possible outcomes ? Honduran Group

chefdev Nov 15, 2011 10:40 PM

I have a some decision to make here... Honduran Group

Here is what I am looking at...

Snow M
Normal F
Tangerine some slight aberrant pattern F

Vanishing pattern ghost little black tipping M
Tricolor Albino F

I would like to prove any possible hets from my two "normal Females" with the M snow. Making Triple Hets regardless...

Make Triple Hets with the Ghost M and The tricolor albino F...

My questions are what are the percentages of these outcomes?
Will the yellow color come through? or will it be het for it?
What about the vanishing pattern?
What about the slight aberrant pattern?

There are a lot of possible outcomes here. Thoughts?
What would you do?

Hi

You can use www.geneticswizard.com to give you possible outcomes or draw out a Punnits Square and do a little multiplying, try www.changbioscience.com/genetics/punnett. As far as the other variables, your best bet is to breed the snakes like you plan and see what pops out. Then use selective breeding to amplify the trait you find most appealing in your babies. Hondurans are starting to get as bad as corn snakes with unadvertised recessive genes showing up. I breed 2 pairs of corns this past season and had some babies pop out that I am still not sure what morph they are, luckily Hondos are not as variable as a corn. I also produce a couple of snow hondurans from a pair that were not suppost to be double hets.

Best of Luck

If you have:

Snow M
Normal F
Tangerine some slight aberrant pattern F

Vanishing pattern ghost little black tipping M
Tricolor Albino F

I would just save the Snow male for 2013 and breed all your females to the Ghost next year.

Your plan works as well, I just think Hypos and Ghosts are more attractive than Amels and Snows...it's all about what you want to produce.

I like Albinos and Snows. It really is up to you, but by not using the Snow on the Albino you may end up with all Normals. At least by using the Snow on the Albino you will get Albinos Het Anery. Have fun and do what you want to. Also, aberrant traits are very hard to predict, so I would not count on seeing any with any degree of certainty.

Good Luck!

What really makes it fun is the fact that you never know what might pop out of one of those eggs, so again just have fun and do what you want.

Agreed on the Aberrants...slight aberrancies never translate to stripes or more aberrant snakes.
