HELP! ESCAPED CORN SNAKE!

jeffhcook Nov 17, 2011 10:04 AM

I went out of town for a couple of days and told my nephew to come in and turn the heat lamp over my tank on and off.
I also put a hopper in the tank with my Corn. When I came back a couple of days later I found the hopper dead but not eaten. I figured my corn was just hiding under the substrate. I removed the dead hopper.

Yesterday I went in to put water in the bowl and I began looking for my corn and he is gone! I think my nephew left the cage partially open and he escaped....How do I go about locating my cnake and possibly capturing him before he dies or I am never able to locate him?

Any help will be appreciated!

I had 2 escapees this spring. One was a hatchling corn and the other an adult coxi.

My wife found the corn in some dirty clothes in our laundry room which is adjacent to the snake room.

For the coxi I placed duct tape sticky side up around the snake room and near likely hiding spots. It took about 5 days but I found him all tangled up and stuck in the tape. I used vegtable oil to unstick him.

I felt very lucky to find either snake.

Good luck.

The tape trick has worked for me on more than one occasion for hatchlings.
