Off Topic Fencies

Being warm and comfortable with all the crickets one could want this winter. They are fat and happy.

Come spring when mating season arouses the testosterone these 13 adults will go in their separate breeding tubs, two or three females per male.

Okay, enough forum fun. Must now move all my files onto external hard drive as my laptop is failing...ugh...fortunately have new laptop on order. My old laptop must have taken umbrage at the idea of a new one, as it really began malfunctioning seriously after I placed the order...

I use a full spectrum lamp which warms the basking area up to the 80's Fahrenheit. Not real hot, but it does seem to please them. Mostly they get put outside in their 106 quart tub for some natural UV but during inclement weather they are kept indoors and get the lamp.

80's is defintly not hot enough. They need upwards of 120f under the heat lamp.

Are these pets or do you use them for feeders?

pyromaniac Nov 20, 2011 06:28 PM

These are my breeders (also pets). I use cb young for feeders, when I have a really stubborn baby pyro. This year I just used wc frozen thawed lizard young for some of my baby pyros, though. So my 2011 clutch of cb lizards will be future breeders, too.

I think fencies are quite beautiful.

Those are cool. I am setting up a bunch of skinks for baby kings this year. Mole kings really like them.

Are skinks very hard to breed? How do you tell the males and females apart?

I haven't bred them before. I just have a bunch that I caught and I'm going to start working it out now. I don't see how they could be hard. They are king snake candy.

Awesome Scelops Bob! I do find them quite charming, especially when you see them bouncing from rock to rock in the wild.

If I ever get deep into the stubborn mtn king or NA milk crze...I probably will have to start a colony!
