I found an full blown axanthic agalma in the Sierra San Pedro Martir. You can see it on my facebook page or in Herp Nation magazine in the Baja article I wrote. If you have any interest in these snakes I strongly recomend you read it. I created the Hypo E (Where in the hell did that name come from lol???)in the mid 90's I made quite a few of them but because they were not pure (Martir X Juarez) I gave them all away. Dozens of them. There's quite a few of the here on the west coast. Hard to give them away because they're mutts. We west coasters have it made and spoiled over herelol. John maybe you should move this way! Anyway, there's is however, pure axanthic Martirs (More than 1. That's all I'm saying) that blow the most [bleep]in axanthic hondos away. One of these days I'm going to have to do a big writeup on the history of Martir zonata and also do a thing on the herps geographic history of that mountain range. I know the place like the back of my hand.

I'm off for a camping trip to the Santa Rita Mountains today. No herping. Just great Mexican Food, Micro Brewed Beer, Whiskey, and a cozy campfire. Then back home for more food and a cozy fireplace!! I'll be back in a day ya'll. If there's any questions I'll get back you then.

Would call that Hypoerythristic personally.... And I don't think a red banded snake with no yellow on it could ever be axanthic...... Anerythristic yes..... If the red is absent completely like anery alterna. I also think the anery hondos are/were named incorrectly....

But that is an awesome agalma.

Gorgeous mountain kings, John. Love the zonata and greeri, but that high black pyro is simply stunning!

Thanks Aaron...that is one of Shannon's Light Phase / Hypo Greeri I picked up from him this year. The amel ruthveni was produced by Robert Cox of Peace River Herps. I had someone email me looking for some amel ruthies and I contacted Robert and picked up 2.1 amels and 1.0 het.....I haven't produced an amel ruthveni in a few years now since my amel female died on me early last year (egg bound I think...she was old)...then I sold the amel male......But now I have these 2.1 and a 2010 aberrant amel female coming up to get some produced in the future. It seems they are getting harder and harder to find...

Good stuff John. Glad to see you working with them as I may had them before and may get back into them. I actually prefer the normal banded amels to the striped/aberrant amels. I remember Steve Osbourne used to display a really nice banded amel at the shows that had red tipping on the center white bands, it is probably my favorite amel of all time.

Yep, I remember that snake Steve had also.It is one of the best I have ever seen.
This is one I used to have and I wish I still had it.It went to Justin Mitchem when I sold him my aberrant ruthveni project.I wish I still had it for sure.Oh well, can't keep them all as Ric Blair used to tell me.LOL.....but thats why he had 1500 snakes.....
