Just an update

I have asked for some help with our new Ball. There were some concerns about his tank size being too big and him not adapting well. While I felt he seemed comfortable and did not seemed stressed, I knew I would not truly know until his 1st feed. Well Rayzor pounded a rat pup today no problem. This was my 1st time watching a hatchling eat, so I was very amused at how long he wrapped himself aroung his prey, I swear he did not let go for about 10 minutes. But he ate it no problems.

P.S quick question: He is rubbing himself all over the cage and substrate after eating, is he getting ready to shed?

.....right after he eats?....he will push his face right after to push his face back into position....his jaws need pushed back and his face needs realigned....you try swallowing a cantalope....

I thought it might be him realigning his jaws, but wasn't sure. This is my 1st time with a young ball. our other was an adult and his prey was small enough that he never really did that. The way he was rubbing I thought might be pre shed, loosening stuff up. Any way it is a learning curve for me, I have never had a baby ball b4. I was actually quite intrigued watching him eat something that big in comparison.

...yea.....balls and all snakes actually , probably rub alot more than we see....jaws back in place...skin itchy...rub to move prey down to the belly faster....and it just feels good...all my snakes pretty much had a chunk of cork bark in their cages...just to rub.....

I was just talking...no fun making....we all need to elarn more...and I been around a long time....and I know nothing much compared to it all....

I did not take it negatively at all, I have a good sense of humor. I love the feedback I get from here. Thanks again.

If he is rubbing his face right after eating, he is just getting his jawbones back in place.
