MY BABY CORN SNAKE HAS FINALLY ATE !

blaino_murph Oct 02, 2003 03:39 PM

I bought a pinkie yesterday. I thought my snake was going to refuse to eat the pinkie but it didn't. (I'M SO HAPPY!) So I bought another one and my snake ate it again. The only thing that I forced it down it's throat.

I think the problem was that the other pinkies were to large and it couldn't get the whole thing down it's throat. I bought to small pinkies and they just slid right down it's throat. I think he/she is pretty full now.

So when do you think it is going to shed?
Should I keep doing this in the future?
Should I stop doing this when he/she gets big?

I'M SO PROUD OF MYSELF!

Congrats. It sure feels good doesnt it? I picked up three new babies at a show last weekend. Two are tiny, the third alot bigger. Wouldn't you you know the two little ones ate and the big one didn't. I think sometimes you just have to teach them how to eat. Eventually they will eat you out of house and home. I'm currently feeding 18 snakes a week. Aint it fun?

Next time you try feeding, see if it will eat by itself. Sometimes the snakes just need a little 'push' before they will start eating on their own. Good luck.

Hurray! Hurray! It's so great to hear that--I've been following your story and worrying about your little guy. Since the little pinkies seem to be working, just keep going with that and eventually the snake will start eating on its own. Once it's gotten bigger, you can gradually feed it bigger pinkies.

Congratulations! Don't you feel better now? I have a rosy boa that won't eat for 8 months at a time, and even though I'm used to it, I still worry.
