Gopher Snake ID ...again

gizzy20001 Nov 25, 2011 02:23 PM

I was just given yet another gopher snake, so now aside from my albino sonoran I have 3 completely different patterned snakes, Is there a site that shows pictures of different gopher snake species and localities. I took pictures of all 3 using the same tub for size and in the same spot for the same lighting, tried to get a dorsal and head shot for each.
the first is the med size it shows a very drab almost gray tan base with black saddles, strong neck pattern...

... and a mask

The next is a small snake I traded a local pet store 2 baby corn snakes for. this one is golden tan with darker dorsal stripe broken by dark brown saddles, this one is missing the strong neck marking...

but has more head markings and a similar mask to the first one

And This is the one I got today this is a much larger snake, about 4 ft. this ones is golden tan with brown saddles that fade as they go down towards the tail then become darker stripes.

and like the small one this one does not have the strong neck pattern but unlike the other 2 the head is free of any patterns

Hopefully someone can steer me in the right direction

Looks like there is a general consensus that I have a great basin, pacific and sonoran, those with my albino sonoran, and northern pine seem to be building up a set of "pits" too bad I did not still have my albino san diego gopher

I agree with the others here on the first two. I wouldn't be so quick to tag the third as a Sonoran.
