What happened to this forum?

Chad_Ramsey Nov 27, 2011 09:18 AM

It has been so slow lately. I log in everday, sometimes multiple times, to see all the great pics and discussions that you all post. And there hasnt been crap posted on here in months really. I know its breeding season, but folks usually post pairings and what not.

So what happened?

Silly holidays!

Been wondering the same thing. The quality and quantity of the dialogue has fallen off, and seems like that's been the case for awhile now. Could be the departure, hopefully temporary, of some of the more respected voices in this community. Maybe the economy finally hit a hobby trade that for the longest time seemed immune to the downturn. Or possibly there's been a chilling effect from the level of hostility which seems to have crept into certain posts-- a degree of animosity, once reserved for newbies, now routinely directed at the handful of big name breeders who still occasionally participate in this forum. Or maybe it's just that a generation of hobbyists don't ask enough dumb questions anymore b/c we think we've got it all figured out. Maybe it's none of those things -- just a momentary lull in the conversation

I've noticed the same thing lately as well. I log in every day here and don't notice much going on in this forum. I believe that a lot of the conversation has moved elsewhere, honestly, as I see a lot of activity in other forums (without naming them!). Kingsnake.com has been around for so long, I'll always frequent the site, but there are a lot of others out there.

Uh, if you haven't noticed a pattern here, it's breeding season! Breeding season is the slowest time of the year! Unless you wanna see snakes being cooled at night/warmed up during the day or occasional lock-ups, there won't be much happenin'

there are other forums that are still pretty active.
