I use one part perlite to 0.8 part water. This is what Albey recommends, and I’ve had good luck with this method. Your one to one ratio isn’t far from that, and I’d guess that the eggs were infertile to begin with, especially because they failed so early. In general, most female’s first clutches won’t do well. My female has laid 2 clutches the 1st died as I was away for the weekend and she must have laid them the Friday. I wasn't even expecting eggs. My father only knew how to change the water and check the temp.. not look for eggs. The 2nd Clutch as I say just failed from the word go. This is her 1st breeding season so I'll cross my fingers and make sure I'm prepaired for the next clutch.
