More Retro Thayeri...

Jlassiter Dec 04, 2011 01:04 AM

These girls are starting to look great in my opinion......No bright oranges and yellows....Just good old-fashioned, classic looking thayeri with great Earth tones. Something you don't see that much anymore with thayeri since there hasn't been any introduction of new bloodlines in decades...

I really like their ontogenetic speckling...

Nice John. Do you by any chance have a shot or two of any melanistic thayeri you could post.

I have 2.1 adult melanistics over here that are Shannon's.
And I have some younger ones I am raising up along with some Hets.

Not quite but the invention incorporates those ideas plus some other husbandry advantages........it's on the down low for now until we sign up a manufacturer......

Thanks for posting those. Not that I really need anymore thayeri but I'm still looking to get some melanistic ones. I'll get with you later about what your expecting with those next year.

Lol....I know what you mean by not needing anything else......
If I can get some melanistics to hatch I can add you to the long list of folks wanting them.......for some reason I've been getting infertile eggs from these while the other thayeri in my collection are throwing good eggs......

I have a new plan this year for breeding temps.......I hope they throw a whole clutch of melanistics.....and a second would be great too....lol

Thanks Jorge.....I dig the split saddles or "hallow" saddles as well......Some call them erasures or ghost saddles too.....LOL

I think I like the third one best too. My Vermilya x Vivid male was very light grey (almost) white as a hatchling and has now turned quite a bit darker with a bit of a green tint.

Typically as a thayeri ages the ontogenetic speckling on a light ground color will create a greenish hue..........especially on a thayeri that hatched out yellow.......

Very nice John! Reminds me of the earth-toned thayeri my breeding partner had, back in the mid-nineties. The snake was huge, and the colors were just like what you have here. Very nice, and great examples of how much beauty particular snakes with those colors can hold on their own. Not everything has to be similar to a neon sign.

Your melanistic thayeri are killer as well.

Thanks Billy....
I tend to like both (line bred and retros) but the retro earth-toned individuals are what got me interested in them in the first place so I lean towards that look being my favorite.

BTW....I won't touch the subject about you having a "breeding partner".........................LOL.................J/K Billy.
