calling all ohioans!

dangles Dec 06, 2011 10:21 AM

i'm putting together a mailing list to keep ohioans up to date on state-level legislative efforts to ban reptiles.

anti-reptile legislation (ARL) is a HUGE danger for us in wake of the zanesville incident and we need to be on our toes so when the time comes to take action, we're armed with ACCURATE information, and ready to place our strikes where they'll make the most impact.

included in the emails will be analysis and updates on state level legislation, contact information for those heading up those processes, tactics and advice for having the MOST impact, and detailed calls to action that go above and beyond what the USARK mailing lists call for.

so if you live in ohio, send an email to ohioARLupdate "at" gmail.com (obviously substitute the "at" with "@"... don't want bots picking up on that address and spamming me to no end ).

spread the word to all those you know in ohio!

Thanks for putting this in the Ball Python forum. I replied to the bill sponsor via email even though I am from Texas and got the cookie cutter reply. Other herpers from out of state have replied as well, recommending USARK's best practice methods and they received feedback from the bill sponsor. These state level laws are so important to every herper out there, I hope everyone realizes this. Little by little, state by state, species by species, these animals are either restricted or taken away. Ball Python person or not, I urge everyone to act every time you see these pop up. If we don't, the harsher laws will eventually catch up to our state or our species of choice. We need to stand together everyone before it's too late! The ball python community is huge and very strong. Imagine if we could actually not use that term and we were more of a real Herp Community, regardless of species. We would be a powerful entity indeed.

Thanks, Jason! There will be more bills to follow (most likely introduced after the first of the year) that will be more likely to pass than the current one, so keep an eyes out for updates.
