Help finding a cal king...

AdamWhite Dec 06, 2011 03:57 PM

So, every year or 2 me and my family make a visit to sacramento, ca to see family we have there. We have wanted to find a cal king for almost 20 years, but just don't know of any good spots to look that aren't too far from sac. Does anyone know of any good spots that aren't more than, say, 60 miles from sac?

They just a Reptile show that had kingsnakes that you missed.LOL!

LOL! just kidding.

Seriously you need to go in the spring when tems are right for A/C (artifial cover) flipping. trash like carpet, boards, plastic, mattresses will yeal kingsnakes almost anyhwere.

if you are looking for an exact spot. Asking on an open forum is not going to net you the responses you are looking for. Maybe find out which herpers live up in the area and privatly PM them. Maybe they will tell you their spots. Maybe they won't.The worst they can say is No. Field herpers are very protective of their spots and who they share them with.

good luck!

oh and look over at the field herpers forum. Do a search on google as i think it may be against TOS to post the link her of another reptile site.

Yeah, I agree with all that. Most field herpers, including my self, don't give out spots for kings. You share your spot with someone and later they take their friends there because most herpers hate herping alone. My best advise would be to get Hubbs book and look for good areas with google earth. You can often find trash piles off of dirt roads. If its Summer, you need to road cruise.

Xeno the snake wrangler.

His catch, which I rescued just in the nick of time.

After a couple years in captivity. Alas he escaped but where I live in the Sierra foothills he is right at home (if he does not encounter Xeno again!)
