Between 11-14 inches depending on the type of enclosure, and what I'm using to collect the light for belly heat. Meaning a dark stone would get hotter so the light would be raised a bit higher above it. If it's wood that they get on to bask this would also change the height, as well as if it's a glass enclosure with the whole top open for ventilation. It really depends on a bunch of things. Some dragons like it hotter then others and some are fine and digest properly at lower temps. For a lot of my large glass tanks I got to use the 160 watt to achive the proper temps.

You can see from the pic what kind of rock I am using for basking (regular river rock from a nearby gulf, and holds heat pretty well) ...Right now I am using a 75w sylvania reflector bulb and achieving 109 degrees from about 8" away!....Fedex stopped when I wasn't home today so I couldn't get my powersun!!!!!!!! So I will definetely get it tomorrow!!!!!!

DO NOT TOUCH BULBS WITH BARE HANDS!! Finger oils have been known to damage mvb. Use a paper towel or something to take out of the box, and screw it in. Sorry just wanted to make sure you read that part
I see you have the temp probe on the rock that's a good idea. You just got to adjust the height till you get the right temps. Since you have a glass tank with an open top you might be fine leaving it where the 75 was sitting. I noticed that regular lower wattage say 75 watt incandescent lights actually get hotter then the 100 watt mvb. With these bulbs the less you screw with, or play with them the longer they last. They are kinda fragile, and the banging when opening the screen top over time will take it's toll on them. Best thing to do is suspend the mvb above the top so it's hanging over the basking spot instead of resting on the screened top. If it has to rest on top I suggest getting a 10 inch dome so the bulb itself does not touch the screen top. I had problems with them before cause I used to play with them too much, changing sockets, move them to a different tank, banging when I closed the screen top etc. Now I screw them in and leave them and I've been getting them to last so much longer, some as long as 8 months without blowing. Sorry you missed the delivery
figures right. Try to screw it in with a paper towel over your hands so not to touch the bulb itself and leave finger oils, these cause hot spots on the bulbs, and basically just cause them to die sooner. Be gentle with them, and once set up right don't bang them or move them around too much. Mine last forever in my melamine cages cause all I do is screw them in once and that's it until they blow. I have some lasting now 5-8 months. In the past it was like every 3 months I was buying new ones. Just be gentle and once set up properly leave them alone and monitor temps of course. Save the receipt too!!! Some of the new powersuns have a warrantee card right in the box, check for that it has free postage too. If it does not have one it's no big deal, but save the receipt just in case it blows prematurely. Zoomed is great with the warrantee and have replaced quite a few for me over the last 2 years no questions asked, I even have the guys name and address who handles the returns for me.. Good Luck. I'm sure your dragon will love the higher uvb and brighter light intensity, and show you so with some brighter colors you didn't see before
that and eating more. The brighter/hotter the light the better food response you'll see. Maybe not the first day cause there busy basking, but they will have a better appetite. Matt
