Baby eating update: after UTH

dubumb Oct 02, 2003 07:10 PM

Hey,
Thanks to those who helped me with my eating problem with my babies... The one gecko's appetite has LARGELY increased... i hand fed him 5 mealworms tonight... the other (smallest one i have) ate 1, my second biggest ate about 3, and my largest didnt eat any (i think hes more of a cricket fan... gonna have to get him some tomarrow. I cannot boast about my babies eating 20 like some of you can, but atleast i can say they are eating more than 1 every other day Another reason my largest one may not have been eating lately is because he had an accident with a rock leaving him injured for about 6 hours post-incident. He has regained full use of his back legs but his tail is still paralyzed for the most part... im gonna have to take him to the vet to get it amputated...

I'm glad to hear the good news. With my two youngest leos (one's a baby, the other's a juvie), if they eat less than 5 mealies, I try again several hours later. So feed them two maybe even three times a day if that's what it takes to get them eating more.

Keep us posted, ok! That was really scary hearing about the rock fall on your leo. I want to hear when he's finally made a full recovery.

the injured gecko is starting to worry me since h used to be the biggest eater, and he is now the gecko that eats the least... I'm handing feeding all of them in order to properly monitor their food intake. I think i may have to sschedual an appointment to a vet within the week...

He probably has no appetite, because he's uncomfortable. If he was a hefty weight before the incident, he should be all right for the time-being. Just try to make things as least stressful as you can on him.
