not sure if my snake is getting the right temp ?

scarface Oct 02, 2003 07:32 PM

cause i live in Canada, its getting cold, and my glass tank isn't keeping things warm. someone already suggested plexi glass, but i'm still thinking of how to keep the enviornement warm !

is 70 F too cold at night ? the glass feels cold when i touch it.

the UTH is on ALL the time, i dim down the heat lamp at night though.

any suggestions would be helpful ! for now i got a cardboard on the screen top covering half of the tank.

thx

The temp guage cannot be too accurate,it cant measure the UTH on the bottom's heat. so it is probably warmer on the bottom of the tank then you think.

would you recommend a digital therm ?

I live in canada as well and my tank is actually a little too warm. I have a uth on all the time and a ceramic heater on. My therm says its only 80-82 on the warm side, but when I put it on the floor of the tank for a few minutes it says 92. I wouldn't worry too much unless your snake seems really sluggish and is basking a lot.
