rosspadilla Dec 13, 2011 12:31 AM

I found this juvenile Cal king under a board December 15th 2007.

I really like seeing striking pose photos. Lets see yours!

That thing has a FLAWLESS pattern!
Awesome what Mother Nature can do, huh?

Here's my Striking Pose pic entry....Calhoun County, Texas Holbrooki.....I incubated and hatched these from eggs found in the field by Todd Hughes back in 2004 I think....

Yes indeed.

Thanks for the photo. That's a nice looking little Speckled. How are those for getting started on mice?

Wow, that surprises me. I thought only the Eastern getula were like that. Now what about splendida? I imagine they take mice right away like Cal kings, right?

In my personal experience splendida are hardy feeders compared to holbrooki...... But that is just one difference I've noticed out of many.... So to me getula are not getula are not getula......

Thanks for that. And I agree, they are so much different from East to West even though they intergrade where their ranges meet.

Beautiful calking. It always amazes me when I find snakes under boards in the middle of winter-except for rubber boas and gartersnakes. I recetly stumbled upon a baby gophersnake a few days ago when airtemp was 54F and night temps were averaging in the high 40s.

Can't wait for Spring...

Yeah, one of the benefits of living in a warmer climate. It still takes a lot more searching, but makes the rewards that much better. Thanks.
