Find the human

rosspadilla Dec 14, 2011 01:08 AM

Found this on facebook. Some people had a hard time but it jumped out at me as soon as I looked in the right spot.

And to keep this kingsnake related....

Yeah, it does stand out like crazy once you spot it. Nice! Cool habitat shot too.

Thanks. Yeah, after seeing it, you can't help but notice it easily when you look at the picture.

Kindy creepy, really...
And that is by far the best looking cal king I have ever seen. If I found one like that in the wild...I might have to setup another enclosure...

Thanks Zach. I found her in a little field in Long Beach which is one of the last areas around there they can be found. Lots of herpers hit that field and they turn up rarely down there for some reason. I lucked out by finding it on my only visit there in 2010. Since then they've plowed and destroyed a lot of the habitat there. Word is they are going to turn that area into a park but as far as I know its still there. Anyone that ever goes there finds one at a time, I've never heard of two being found at one visit. A lot of the kings there are hypermelanistic like this one and they are known as Long Beach grease kings. The females are not normally as dark as the males. This one is a female. In fact Rainer has a pair of really dark ones from here and they are the only Cal kings he keeps.

For some reason that first pic didn't load the first time I looked at your post, and I was scouring that picture of the oil field for the "human"!

I still haven't found the human in the first pic. But am i the only one seeing a light brown, shrew-like mammal under the pile of rocks? It's obvious: the human, not so much so.

Go to the bottom right corner. About an inch up from there you will see a face.

Thanks. That IS spooky. Is there a story behind that pic? Or is that what your friends do every Friday?

I KNEW it was gonna be a scarlet king joke. Sigh. And after I was nice enough to let you push my car out of the sand at withlacoochee. I don't get no respect…
