"People are strange..."

More like snakes. My little female red "Isabelle" has this thing she has developed in the last month or so. She will not get out if her water bowl. I take her out and she is right back in there.
Her humidity is perfect, has hides, and there are no external or internal parasites. I read of people having this problem before, but never really paid much attention as it never happened to be a concern for me, dumb huh? Anyhow, some insight would be greatly appreciated. I am more worried about her getting a reapiratory infection than anything else as this water is not necessarilly heated, and probably ,I would guess 70-75 degrees.
Thanks,

Amy G

My blood did that for awhile..i think he has an infatuation with his water bowl, first he would always sit in it, then he would always tip it over and beat it against the side of his cage, and now he likes to get underneath it...anyone know of a snake phychiatrist? (jk)

My little baby sarawak lived in that water bowl.I finally put a smaller bowl in there, now she's back to normal.I was worried she wasn't thermoregulating right.

i wonder if it has something to do with their burrowing habits.
Maybe they feel like they are hidden with the water around them.
just a thought. i had a blood that did that too.

..maybe it has something to do with their "inborn instincts".They are somewhat "domesticated",but their wild counterparts practically live in mud puddles near animal trails waiting for an "ambush" attack. My Vietnam vet uncle, years ago,was staring at my red adult and mentioned he had seen them before in puddles. He kinda weirded me out the way he stared.I didn't think they were in 'nam, but reading up on them, they are.Otherwise, having ample humidity,hide-spots,and temps not too hot?Just a guess.....Jason
