Where to find a compatible male juvenile T. ibera?

boostaddict Oct 02, 2003 08:44 PM

Hello,
I'm hoping to find a male t. ibera in the next few months. I have a nice little t. ibera ibera (thanks to d. senneke) that I've had for 5 years now (see picture). Any thoughts on where to find a mate? I'm entertaining the hopes of being able to breed her some day, but I'm concerned about compatibility due to different regions, etc. Instead should I be looking at getting a young 1.1 pair of torts that I know are from the same region and raise them as well? Just thinking out loud at this point. Any input would be welcome. Thanks,

Wayne

Nice looking tortoise. You just have to watch the classifieds, or visit some of the web sites listed on the home page. Do a google serch, and it might help you find some that are being advertised.

Make sure they are from the same region as yours, and could/should help in the mating game, although their are many philosophys on regional compatibility. My experience is that they usually will breed/reproduce, if they are the same subspecies.

Thank you for the compliment and advise. I'll keep checking around on the classifieds and google from time to time, and maybe I'll run across someone selling the perfect mate!
