Feeding question

poncho777 Dec 21, 2011 10:08 PM

Ok, I'm just gonna ask. Is there any merit to the suggestion that I have been reading about concerning prey size for a ball python? I read somewhere that the prey should weigh 15-20% of the python's weight. My BP is around 650-675 grams as of today, and I have been feeding small F/T rats, one per week. Do I need to be feeding her more or is she pretty much on track?

i feed no bigger than the snakes largest area of girth but usually a touch smaller, i have heard of people trying to weigh there prey items, im sure this is a fine and dandy way to go about feeding but it has always seemed like a waste of time to me but everyone has their own way of doing things...

yr prey size is fine. as to how many, listen to yr snake. feed one... when he or she is done eating it, offer another - it will either accept it or it wont.

dont get too complicated about it, just let it decide on quantity.
