Reaper, where are you located? If you are close to the LLL store front location in either Escondido or Oceanside, you will be close enough to attend the San Diego IRBA show 10/18&19. I know that there will be some lovely cbb chondros there from at least one established breeder with an excellent reputation for fine animals.
CBB is definitely the best way to start with chondros. I have personally seen only two chondros displayed at the Escondido LLL store, I asked the salesperson the source. He said, I don't know, we just got them in today? They were for sale already without having been observed or fed even one meal yet? They were also very small, about 20-30 grams and being sold as sexed. Early sexing can damage their spines which may not show up until they are adults. 3 weeks later, both snakes were still in shop on display, only this time one of the two appeared "skinny, loose skinned and curled up on the bottom."
Only limited experience and I love LLL for many of my dry goods but for a source of chondros? Nah... go with a reputable breeder. They aren't really that much more expensive and you know what you are going to get.
