I bought a wild caught White lip from them once. Turned out to have no parasites or mites, no RIs, no scalation (dermatitus), good body weight, and great temperament. If they can do that for a white lip i would say they are good folks to do business with. They certainly dont hire the best "reptile" people...(the worker was too scared to grab the white lip for me) so if you want info on your snake other than health related stuff, I wouldnt take their advice.

Reaper, where are you located? If you are close to the LLL store front location in either Escondido or Oceanside, you will be close enough to attend the San Diego IRBA show 10/18&19. I know that there will be some lovely cbb chondros there from at least one established breeder with an excellent reputation for fine animals.

CBB is definitely the best way to start with chondros. I have personally seen only two chondros displayed at the Escondido LLL store, I asked the salesperson the source. He said, I don't know, we just got them in today? They were for sale already without having been observed or fed even one meal yet? They were also very small, about 20-30 grams and being sold as sexed. Early sexing can damage their spines which may not show up until they are adults. 3 weeks later, both snakes were still in shop on display, only this time one of the two appeared "skinny, loose skinned and curled up on the bottom."

Only limited experience and I love LLL for many of my dry goods but for a source of chondros? Nah... go with a reputable breeder. They aren't really that much more expensive and you know what you are going to get.

Personlly,I would NEVER buy any animal from them. About 2 years ago I purchased a baby JCP from them, was told it was c.b.healthy and eating. However when I tried to feed it a week later it wasn't interested and it never became interested, I kept trying to feed it for over 2 months occaisionaly taking it back so they could force feed it.Finally after 3 months i couldnt handle it anymore and just gave it back to them. The owner said " I am so sorry, next time you want an animal just come in and talk to me and I'll give you a great discount' and gave me his "personal" card. So I went back to purchase a couple of Giant day geckos and needless to say he "didn't remember me". And yes the setup was correct for the animal and also it had mites.

Don't buy from them esp. a chondro. At the IRBA show I know of at least 2 reputable chondro breeders who will be there. Chris Roulie, who has some great lookin' Arus and another guy named Ed. I can't think of his last name right now. And I'm sure the will have reasonable prices.

It is definetly worth it to spend a 100-200 more on an animal you know is cb and by a reputable person not a shop where they are clueless. I happened to be in LLL the other day getting some substrate and asked about their chondros and the gy had no idea where they were from and said he doesn't like gtp's cause they"e viscious!!! LOL

Best of luck,
Steve
