Christmas Snow came to San Jose.....

rainbowsrus Dec 24, 2011 05:09 PM

I was cleaning cages yesterday and found one of my 2009 AN-FL babies had shed and is now sporting some white scales. Kind of surprising as I would have thought the Calico trait would be recessive or there would be more of them. None of my 2008's have shown any white and none of the other 2009's have either. This one, now named Snowy is the only one so far and also the only one to brown out. May be related? Also, she had been sold and the buyer backed out. Phew, she almost got away from me.

Any way you slice it, I now appear to have two Calico's!!

Very cool Dave! Still a bit skeptical that it only appeares to be in the crescents, but still a good sign. Please keep us updated!

Yeah, not totlly convinced myself but there are partial white scales in some dorsal patterns as well.

You can see a couple in these pics...

Eagerly anticipating updates on that snake and any others from the bloodline that get the white scales.

Very nice Dave! I am glade that it’s happening but skeptical that the white scale is in the crescent. You said ‘scales,’ are there other white scales that are not in crescents? That would be awesome. I would have thought that the trait (if inheritable) would have been recessive but you never know.

O’ yeah, lucky-lucky you didn’t sell that one off!!!

Merry Xmas to you and your family ☺

Most of the white scales are partial and in the crescents. There are a few in the edges of the dorsal patterns. Not many but still promising.

Here are a couple white tipped scale in the dorsal areas...
