Box O' Bulls

pyromaniac Dec 30, 2011 12:01 PM

Not everyone is sleeping this winter. My little clutch of baby bulls; they are just in this box while I spot clean their cage.

Thanks!
Rozy weighs 358 grams now and is almost three feet long. Her siblings weigh 172, 140, 126, and 122 grams. For a baby hatched August 6, 2011, Rozy is gigantic! She now eats small weanling mice, which I prekill. Everybody else is still on big fuzzies or hoppers. She hatched within a couple days of my birthday; what a wonderful birthday present!

I am sending the brothers up to the Reno show in a couple weeks to hopefully sell them. If they don't sell I will put them into a separate tank, as I don't want any breeding this next spring. Rozy is so big I don't want to take any chances. I am waiting for Jonel Lopez to produce a patternless or het patternless red male this next year for her, then breed them in a couple years after that.

Bob,

Those are all completely gorgeous!
You know which one my fave is? The one located on what would be considered the bottom right, with the darker, contrasting patterned neck pattern. Good grief, I love that thing!

Here he is just born, with his big sister. His head is not visible, that is Rozy's head.
He is Moz, who I used to call TightChain, as his saddles are in a tight pattern with very little spacing between them. He was the second out of the egg, and now weighs 172 grams, and has a sweet disposition like his sister. He is a keeper as well. At first he didn't look like much but as he grows his saddles are becoming a rich chocolate brown.

That's the thing with these Kingsville x Stillwaters; you have to keep them quite awhile to see how the colors will develop. The other three little males are nice, too, but I already have their parents, which they strongly resemble. Rozy and Moz are unique. If I manage to sell the three extra males I might allow the parents to go again this spring.

Very cool to see him as a new baby!

That is the thing with bulls. They pretty much all go thru a significant overall change with so many colors as they get older. You really never know exactly how one will turn out by just viewing them as babies. That is part of the fun as well.

You can't go wrong with bulls. They all are gorgeous, from babies to adults, and their color change rivals any king, milk, or corn, IMO.

Great looking bulls Bob. I think that biggest one will be truely amazing as it grows and it's darker markings get more intense.

Her extreme size difference is the most odd thing about her. Since this clutch is my one and only bull clutch, I have little to compare her to. I've had her parents since they were a few months old, and the males are following the same growth rate as them. Rozy reminds me of Baby Huey! LOL!

Who knows what her offspring will hatch out at like!
