Light Motleys?

boaphile Jan 02, 2012 09:46 AM

I have always loved Motleys. From the first day I saw the first one, I loved those things. After years of watching them being made, it seemed that there were few produced that were very light though. They were mostly overall pretty dark looking Boas. Now I love dark Boas but over the years and the more i saw them, the more I wanted to make or find some lighter Motleys. But they seem to be few and far between.

Does anyone have or has anyone seen very light Motleys out there?

I have this one little male that Chris Nicholas, the Motley King, produced. It just popped up from a regular Motley breeding. He is not a Hypo.

The cool pattern is a bonus I suppose. But a normal pattern would have been fine with me.

I am really wondering if anyone has bred a really light Motley and produced babies. I am very curious to see if the darker overall color in normal Motleys is somehow no longer in a lighter colored Motley.

So anyhow, if you have any really light straight up Motleys, I'd really be curious to see them. Any age or sex. And even better, if you have bred a really light straight up Motley, I'd love to hear about your results.

This little guy is trying this season, but I don't know yet what will happen.

Hey Jeff, how's this girl for you?

She's an 08 from Guy Scavone. Het anery, possible het snow.

She's pretty dang small for her age. Not planning on breeding her for another 2 years probably. This picture was taken not too long ago for size. Please excuse the beer, it was the only can I had in the fridge lol.

And then there's this guy. He's pretty light for a motley, but not light compared to normal boas IMO. 2011 possible het snow from Jordan Russell.

Good luck with your light motley, he's definitely unique. Hopefully he will sire some babies for you this season!

Jeff,
I had 2 light males that I bred in the past. The light color was not passed down after the breeding. The thing I remember when I produced the original males is that they were accidentally subject to cooler temps during the end of their gestation. Unfortunately, I lost both of them along with my entire collection last October during the tornado. I wish I had pics of them still(lost my computers during the tornado too). They were similar in color to your motley, with a bit more stripping in the tail(which I also attribute to cooler temps). Hope this info helps.
