Thanks Billy.....It seems everyone likes that white leonis......Robert Hansen produced a whole clutch of them....I was lucky to get this one from him.......

And I am diggin the looks of the hypo cal king......I have another that is getting light too but not as nicely as that one pictured.....

Very nice animals John!....

I especially dig the hypermelanistic "tiger" there.

Do you think/expect the dark hypo-E will lighten in the blotches as it matures more?

Definitely......
I already raised a pair of them.... Their saddles are totally pink.....
This one is very similar in coloration to his uncle at his age.... And that adult male is one of the nicest Hypoerythristics that I've seen..... So glad I have him....
What I'm really curious about is how dark his ground color will get as his father has an almost solid black ground color.....

If this one pictured ends up black and pink then it was easier to get there than I initially thought...... I do think the project will need refining though.... Plus it's time to get the hypo-e gene on an ultra granite..... I will be breeding a young pair this year that have a granite and a black parent....if they throw a black granite it will be time to breed the black hypo-e to it.... Fingers crossed....

Then there's the striping gene to work on, refine and cross into the hypo-es and blacks.....

Cool, I thought I remembered that they tended to lighten up in the saddles as they matured and some darken up very substantially in the groundcolor as well.

Some nice projects there.......

Thanks Doug....
Here are some comparison pics to help illustrate most of it.....

Yeah, quite a difference from the more cherry-red coloration their saddles are typically noted for being.

Cool comparison shots there to visualize it with. Until they mature more, it is sort of similar to some of the hypo-E Sinaloans to see how different they really are compared to a normal unless there is a normal colored specimen next to it to visually comapare it with. You know how some shots are sort of deceiving to the eye sometimes. Although the mex-mex are certainly more obvious.

>>Yeah, quite a difference from the more cherry-red coloration their saddles are typically noted for being.

Actually a normal (classic) hatchling mex mex has maroon saddles that lighten to cherry red......The females don't get as bright and clean......Slight dimorphism like high saddles = females too....

These Hypo-Es hatch with a cherry red that lightens to pink and I've seen the saddles on one hypo-e female (grandmother to my pair) lighten to gray/white.....ANERY?.........
