wildlines Jan 07, 2012 05:38 PM

Hi Guys, Is there any site on the net with a good map of the ranges of the Mexican, Central American and South American milksnakes? Something as up to date as possble would be great.

Thanks,

Jack

I don't know of any readily-accessible range maps on the net for all of the Mexican/Latin American forms of triangulum except for the illustration in an older publication a few of us "milk-heads" own. For that, you need to find a copy of "Systematics and Natural History of the American Milk Snake" by Kenneth L. Williams published by the Milwaukee Public Museum (1988). There is a 2nd revised edition which is the best one to get if at all possible. It is a must-have for anyone REALLY into milksnakes.

If you google in the title on a search, you will find some places that have it, or can get it.

Unfortunately, no. There was an excellent map posted on a popular Spanish language forum that a few Mexico-based field herpers put together based on their real-life observations. If you aren't sure which forum I'm talking about, feel free to e-mail me and I will get you started in the right direction. Williams' work, while fantastic, is severely out of date.
