All this Desert hulla-bulla, I have no idea who this guy is (nor do I "Big Gunns" (??). I've been involved in Ball Python morphs since the early 2000's, and have read a ton of books/websites about the history of them. I'm not much for forums but this has caught my attention (who Neil is could have been covered in several forums prior). This is the first I've heard of him.
I believe in his 17 thread post last night he claimed to have sold Mike Wilbanks his first Pied back in the day, I assume some bigger name old timers (I'm 31, what makes an old timer in ball python forum land? Keeping in mind the snakes probably at its all time highs of popularity and affordable morphs are not even 10 years old) Can anyone opine that Neil is a credible person?? Pete Kahl, Mike, Ralph, Kevin, PE guys, is Neil have credibility?
On Deserts, I have little in the game, 1 female in my collection. I would just say that I don't know of any species/morph that exists with a female not being reproductive (please don't tell me about a Liger). Maybe it's temps, maybe it's a hormonal thing (which I personally doubt), but I bet in the next two years its figured out.
I was told way back when I bought my first Pieds that they were all bad eaters... that proved to be untrue... the early generations always take a few generations to work out the "KINKS" (hahah), but through selective breeding results are produced.
I think the recent price drop in females is an opportunity, maybe it is as simple is dropping your February-March temps another 3 degrees...
