Ovulation?

Barker Jan 07, 2012 06:01 PM

Let me start by saying please excuse the dirty tub in the first one. The only reason I even caught this is because I was cleaning tubs in the first place. I have never actually seen an ovulation in person and was wondering what it looked like. This is my biggest female and maxes out my scale so I cant weigh her. She hasn't eaten in like 3 months, though I offer weekly. In the first picture right at the bend. Second picture I put the male back in just in case she was ovulating.

Anyway, let me know what yall think?

Looks like ovulation to me, or a big defecation coming, if your temps are low might just be a big defecation.. but that looks like an ovulation (January ovulation, where do you live?).

Curious to hear what others say.

I'd just wait to hear what Neil has to say, I heard he was the founding father to Ball Pythons.... and the quickest multi poster in the history of Kingsnake.com....

I also heard Neil is also giving away 3 year old desert females if anyone wants to call him...

I live in Iowa. The locked the end of November or beginning of December. I don't remember for certain and the cards are downstairs in the snake room. And honestly I'm too lazy to go and look right now. If she does have a massive poo coming it would be a trick. Like I said she hasn't eaten anything in at least 3 months or so. Hot side temps range from 82ish at night to around 87-89 in the day.

And after reading every single post of Neil's I would prefer if he didn't post. He did a good job of discrediting himself in my eyes last night.

Looks like an ovulation to me. It is not going to help putting the male back in. Fertilization takes place during ovulation. You are going to get a clutch of eggs whether good or bad. Congrats and good luck.

Ah I wasn't aware. I thought the ovulation was when they were fertile and that's when the male should be introduced to ensure fertilization. I wasn't aware that ovulation actually meant that fertilization had already occurred. Thanks for clearing that up. I'll remove him and stick him in with one of the other girls that actually needs the attention

Thanks all!

For some reason I was thinking ovulation was when the follicles developed. Makes sense now thanks for the info.

>>For some reason I was thinking ovulation was when the follicles developed. Makes sense now thanks for the info.

Follicles develop before ovulation. Ovulation is when eggs are pushed through the oviducts and are then fertilized. Once ovulation is witnessed there is no need to breed. In some species males will lose interest after a female ovulates (green tree pythons) and others may be so persistent they overstress the female. Anyway, congrats on your girl.
